Scalp Micropigmentation

What is Scalp Micropigmentation?

Scalp Micropigmentation is a non-surgical, permanent solution for hair loss, thinning, and scalp imperfections. Often referred to as a "hair follicle simulation," SMP is a highly specialized modality that bridges the gap between medical aesthetics and artistic tattooing.

Using ultra-fine, medical-grade needles and stable, organic pigments, we meticulously deposit micro-pigment into the dermal layer of the scalp. Each deposit is engineered to replicate the size, shape, and depth of a natural hair follicle, creating a seamless 3D illusion of density and a refined, uniform hairline.

The Nu Clinique Technique

Unlike traditional tattooing or standard SMP providers, we prioritize a multi-session layering technique. This ensures:

  • Natural Gradient: We build density gradually to prevent oversaturation and ensure a soft, realistic transition.

  • Pigment Stability: We use only biocompatible, carbon-based pigments that are designed to age gracefully without shifting in color.

  • Artistic Customization: Every treatment is tailored to your unique skin tone, hair color, and facial structure, ensuring your results are as unique as you are.

Pre - Treatment Procedures

To prepare your scalp for the best possible results, please follow these guidelines starting at least one week before your appointment:

Moisturize Your Scalp: Apply a non-comedogenic oil (like Jojoba oil) or a fragrance-free moisturizer 3–4 times daily for 7 days leading up to your session. This ensures your skin is hydrated and supple for optimal pigment absorption. Note: If you have naturally oily skin, skip this step.

Exfoliation: Gently exfoliate your scalp 2–3 days before your session using a simple sugar and water scrub to remove dead skin cells.

Sun Protection: Avoid intense sun exposure or tanning for at least two weeks. We cannot treat a sunburnt or peeling scalp.

Avoid Blood Thinners: For 48 hours prior to treatment, refrain from alcohol, caffeine, and non-prescribed blood-thinning medications like Aspirin or Ibuprofen, as these can increase sensitivity and affect healing.

Medication Note: If you are currently taking antibiotics, you must wait at least 2 weeks after your last dose before your treatment.

Shaving/Hair Length: For a "shaved look," use a zero-guard clipper 2–3 days before your session. Do not use a razor blade within 24 hours of your appointment to avoid skin irritation.

Day of Treatment

Eat a substantial meal before arriving, as sessions can be long.

Wash your hair and scalp thoroughly with a mild, fragrance-free shampoo.

Do not apply any lotions, sprays, or styling products to your scalp on the day of the procedure.

Post - Treatment Procedures

The first 10 days are critical for the "settling" of the pigment. Failure to follow these steps may cause the pigment to fade prematurely or require additional sessions.

Days 1–4: The "Strict Dry" Phase

No Water: Keep your scalp completely dry. Do not wash or wet your head in the shower.

No Sweating: Avoid any activities that cause heavy sweating, as sweat can "push" the pigment out.

No Shaving or Scratching: Do not shave your head or pick at any micro-crusts that may form.

Hat Protocol: You may wear a clean, loose-fitting cotton hat if needed, but remove it every 30 minutes to let the scalp breathe. Avoid tight or dirty headwear.

Days 5–10: Gentle Reintroduction

Gently Wash: You may now gently wash your scalp using lukewarm water and a tiny amount of baby shampoo or a sulfate-free cleanser. Use your fingertips only. Do not scrub.

Light Exercise: You may resume light exercise. Avoid heavy sweating or a "red face" until day 10.

Moisturize: If your scalp feels dry or tight, you can begin applying a small amount of Jojoba oil or a water-based, fragrance-free lotion.

Day 10 and Beyond: Long-Term Protection

Sunscreen is Vital: Once fully healed (after day 10), apply a broad-spectrum SPF 30–50 sunscreen daily. UV rays are the primary cause of pigment fading and color shifts.

Avoid Harsh Chemicals:  For at least 30 days, avoid swimming in chlorinated pools or salt water.

Product Safety:  Avoid products containing alcohol, AHAs/BHAs (like glycolic acid), or Retinoids on the treated area, as these can accelerate fading.

What to Expect

Immediately after your session, your scalp will likely be red for 24–48 hours. Between days 3–7, the pigment may appear to lighten or "disappear" as the skin exfoliates, this is normal "ghosting," and the color will settle back in. Remember, SMP is a multi-session process; session 1 is the foundation.
